PATRICK PIKE AWARD

This initiated from a generous donation by a member towards a fund for Patrick Pike, our much beloved Vice President and committee member of many years, in memory of his dedication and work on our behalf. The Society of Catholic Artists became Patrick’s life once he discovered it. Other donations have followed in response.

The committee decided that the Patrick Pike Fund should be used in awarding school students for submitted art works done under teacher guidance. The focus is mainly on secondary schools with students awarded individual prizes. Junior schools are awarded a prize of, currently, £50 for the school with certificates for participants. It is felt that younger children are best encouraged in joint participation, the pleasure of working together on a similar theme rather than competition.

All works from individual schools will be displayed on our website following school, student and parental permission as schools participate. The schools will be Catholic but students need not be. We hope that this will encourage consideration of religious beliefs and also inform young, future artists and others of the society’s existence and our aim to evangelize as artists.
